The Range Rover Classic is an iconic car and hugely influential in the development of the modern SUV and Crossover vehicle market. Originally conceived in the late 1960’s as dual purpose off road workhorse and a comfortable road based car it quickly became the benchmark for other manufacturers to emulate. Over the years the Range Rover has evolved into the highly accomplished modern, super luxury SUV we now see on our roads (and let’s be honest, rarely seen off road).
The first model of Range Rover, later called the ‘Classic’ with the introduction of the P38, shares much of its underpinnings with the Discovery 1 and the original coil sprung Land Rover Defender. In recent years it has become increasingly popular to install high performance engines and suspension in ‘Resto-Mod’ versions of these vehicles and a commensurate increase in braking performance is essential. However, one main difference between the Range Rover Classic (and very early Discovery 1 models) and its siblings is the use of a twin circuit front brake system. This has made it very difficult to find a suitable brake upgrade which retains the remaining braking system. Changing to a single circuit at the front on these vehicles is complicated and expensive which has proved a significant barrier to a simple ‘bolt-on’ Range Rover classic brake upgrade.

In response to the need for a suitable twin circuit front brake upgrade for the Range Rover Classic and early Discovery 1, Fosseway Performance has worked with two of the leading Range Rover Classic restorers to develop a range of uprated braking options suitable for all variants from the early solid disc cars to the later cars with vented discs and ABS. Leveraging our experience with Ferrari twin feed calipers we were able to produce a number of options for the Range Rover Classic.
Our range of Range Rover Classic brake upgrade kits use a specially developed oversize, twin feed, four pot front caliper and a variety of larger brake disc options to suit the performance of the vehicle and the wheel size selected. We also have a matching rear brake upgrade kit to complement the front.
